Welcome Dr. Anna Redden as the new Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at Acadia University!
Dr. Redden brings a wealth of research and leadership experience to the position. She is currently the Director of the Acadia Centre for Estuarine Research (ACER) as well as Director of the Acadia Tidal Energy Institute and Executive Chair of the Fundy Energy Research Network. Anna possesses a PhD from Memorial University and is a proud Acadia graduate (BScH and MSc) who returned to the campus in 2005 from a continuing academic appointment in Australia to assume a faculty position in the Biology Department.
She has over 30 years research experience with students and collaborators within and outside the university and has taught graduate level Research Methods for 10 years. She is recognized internationally and nationally for her research in the ecology of coastal / estuarine systems and marine environments. Anna has enjoyed many successful research collaborations, including interdisciplinary research leading to publications with researchers from three faculties at Acadia. She has supervised 35 research students at the PhD, Masters and Honours levels, as well as numerous technical and administrative staff, research assistants and coop interns. Her administrative experience is broad and includes the administration of grants and other funding (>$3.3 million) from diverse sources. Dr. Redden has served on numerous University committees, including the Senate Honours and Senate Research Committees, as well as numerous government, industry and community committees.
